Don’t Overlook These 3 Symptoms
With heart disease the number one killer in this country, it is crucial to care for your heart and know the signs of heart trouble. The problem is that heart symptoms don’t always involve the obvious severe chest pain followed by a collapse. In fact, some signs that your heart is in trouble may not seem like severe problems at all.
Occasional fatigue is normal, especially after a long night or a lot of physical activity, but when it happens for prolonged periods of time, it should be a concern. Fatigue is one of the main symptoms of heart failure, especially when it comes on for no reason and doesn’t go away.
A long day of walking or eating too many salty foods can sometimes cause ankles and feet to swell. However, severe swelling can also be another sign of heart failure or an oncoming heart attack.
Heartburn or indigestion are common. If you experience these symptoms you may just think what you ate did not agree with you, but especially in women, this can be a sign of a heart attack. Be sure to seek medical attention if it worsens, doesn’t go away, or is accompanied by other symptoms such as the above or unusual aches and pains.
Some of the population should be more concerned with these symptoms than others since they have higher risks of heart disease and other heart problems such as those with:
- High Cholesterol
- A History of Smoking
- A Family History of Heart Disease
