3 Healthy Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated this year on Saturday, March 17th. Like many other holidays, it is almost “expected” that everyone eats and drinks unlimited amounts of food and alcohol, and consequently spending the next day regretting their celebration indulgences. The medical team at Questcare Medical Clinic thought we would offer a healthy perspective on how to celebrate St. Paddy’s day.
Eat Before Your St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
It is true that you should never go grocery shopping when hungry it is also true to never attend a holiday party on an empty stomach. Eat some healthy food before going out. You’ll be less tempted to overindulge if you’re full of something healthy.
Control Your Drinking
Alcohol is an easy way to consume more calories than you need, so avoid mixed or fruity drinks. If you have to have a drink, have a glass of water for every drink you consume. Most importantly, do not overindulge in drinking.
Plan Your Ride Home
Drink responsibly if you are planning on having an alcoholic drink, make sure you have a designated driver who is not drinking alcohol or use a service such as a cab or Uber.
However you have celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in the past, make this the year that you don’t gain extra weight and overindulge in alcohol. Make a decision to do everything you can to stay active, eat healthy, and stay safe.
