School Immunizations

It is time for children to go back to school as summer makes way for the colors and cool weather of fall. A lot of planning and work goes into getting your children ready for a new school year. One of the tasks you need to complete is getting the required vaccinations, but figuring out what all of those are may be time-consuming. Questcare wants to make it a little easier by providing the information in one place for you.

Why Your Child Needs Vaccines

Vaccines are still seen as a questionable, revolutionary method of handling the many dangerous diseases that once plagued our country. However, the benefits are invaluable. Vaccines are medicines that contain a live or dead version of a virus that is injected into a person to prevent the later contraction of the full-fledged virus. This protects not just your child from a deadly disease, but it also protects those with compromised immune systems who cannot have these lifesaving vaccines.

Required Vaccines

The vaccine required varies by grade level and previous vaccination history, but the following are all required by Texas state law in order to attend public school at some point:

  • Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis
  • Polio
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Meningococcal
  • Hepatitis A
